Trinidad and Tobago : COP unveils some of its 'new politics'

The Congress of the People (COP) on Tuesday unveiled what it calls a new paradigm towards changing the culture of governance in Trinidad and Tobago. COP Political Leader Winston Dookeran told reporters its highlight is equity, participation, transparency and accountability (EPTA).


 Winston Dookeran, Leader of the COP. Dookeran says his 'New Politics' implies "a new perspective on both what has gone before and what is to be created in the future."

Trinidad and Tobago : TT cultural icon Aubrey Adams laid to rest

Aubrey Adams would have been pleased with the dramatic production that was staged as a final tribute to him at his funeral at the All Saints Anglican Church in Port-of-Spain Monday. Adams died last week at the age of 88.

Aubrey Adams: "It was an occasion to be in the same party he was present at and to see him on the dance floor. He was not just good. He was superb."

Trinidad and Tobago's Labour Minister Danny Montano is sounding very generous these days. And according to a report in the Trinidad Guardian, he has asked officials in his ministry to find 10,000 unemployed women and give them jobs.

Trinidad and Tobago : Move to dump Panday?

The Trinidad Express newspaper is reporting that certain influential people in the United National Congress are putting pressure on UNC Chairman and Political Leader Basdeo Panday to hand over the party's leadership to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.


Basdeo Panday was Prime Minister of Trinidad &Tobago from 1995 to 2001. He was removed from office by President A.N.R Robinson after inconclusive results of a general election that gave his party and the opposition People's National Movement 18 seats each in the 36-seat House of Representatives. President Robinson chose PNM Leader Patrick Manning as prime minister, although Panday was the incumbent and his United National Congress won the higher popular vote.
