| Trinidad and Tobago : MTS workers stage second day of protest |
| 2007/9/6 19:30:00 |
Scores of MTS employees, all dressed in green today took their grievances to the Prime Minister’s Whitehall office as they continue to protest the slow pace of wage negotiations.
President of The transport and Industrial Workers Union Roland Sutherland says after some 20 months of negotiations between MTS and the Transport and Industrial Workers Union, an agreement for the period 2006-2008 is yet to be reached.
The Prime Minister is now being called upon to intervene in the mater since Mr. Sutherland says, workers are growing impatient.
He says workers met yesterday with Works and Transport Minister, Colm Imbert, but the response given by the Minster indicates something entirely opposite to what management has been saying.
He said the Minister informed the workers that the proposals and recommendations from the company have not yet reached his table; therefore, no approval has yet been given to the recommendations made by both parties. |
